Yes, I know that Halloween hasn’t even come and gone, but I am already thinking ahead to the holiday season! It’s never too early to get your Christmas cards in order. My card designs recently arrived and I am so excited… they are beautiful and diverse. This year, I’ll be offering my client several options for holiday greetings… either custom cards, bulk sets of 4×6 prints (to insert into store bought cards) or digital files for those clients who’d like to make their own cards.
Here are just a few of the great designs I’ve got. If you’d like more info (this means you, clients who have had a session with me in 08!) just get in touch. I’ll give you the details and send the complete set of designs along for your choosing.

P.S. It is with a heavy heart that I say that today’s mini sessions have been postponed until tomorrow due to the pouring rain. Hopefully we’ll have a beautiful blue sky fall day!

First of all, the Saratoga Business Showcase was GREAT! The ABP booth looked great, and there was a fantastic turnout. I met lots of small business owners and people who stopped by. I can’t wait to do it again next year.
I got to work with the J. family this past week and their two beautiful girls. It’s a lot of fun to work with kids that are a little bit older because I get to have great conversations with them. S. and M. were smart, funny and oh so photogenic. And they lived near a lake… talk about a great spot for photos.

I am way behind on blogging. Way. I intend to post a sneak peek soon after a session to get the parents excited… well, I’ve pretty much made a mockery of that since most of my blog posts lately have been AFTER the slideshows have gone out! My excuse is that I’ve been busy getting ready for the Business Showcase (tomorrow… hooray!) and fall in general is just crazy. But I promise to be better! I hope to post every day or at least every other day!
To get caught up, I have quite a bit to share. I hate to combine multiple sessions into one post but alas, here I go.I had SO MANY September babies… you probably recall all of my July and August maternity sessions… well these are the two of the resulting babies! Beautiful, chubby E. and gorgeous, sort-of-red-headed A. I’ve been dying to use A.’s gorgeous nursery since I first laid eyes on it!

Next I met a sweet belly, home of A., and her mom and dad. Such a great, down to earth couple. I had a ton of fun working with them at the same spot where they got married! So excited to meet her very soon.

And to round out this monster post, the stunning C. family. A really fun family session… they all connected so well and it shows! The girls were a little shy at first (as many little ones their ages are!) but warmed up pretty quickly. LOVE the Burberry dresses!

Phew! At least that catches me up a bit. Back to work getting ready for tomorrow. I know I keep reminding you, but if you can, stop by the Saratoga Business Showcase! My booth is right across from Bookmaker’s Restaurant’s booth… YUM. All of those samples… not to mention the delicious sugar cookies at the Ashley Brown Photography booth…

The M. family recently relocated here, and were seriously so much fun to work with… relaxed and down to earth. Mom was worried that the youngest would be shy, but I had lots of tricks up my sleeve and voila… she emerged from her shell!

I’ve got lots of sneak peeks to post but I must take a break for a couple pieces of news!

First and foremost, I am very excited for the opportunity to have a booth at next week’s Business Showcase sponsored by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce. The Business Showcase is a fantastic event where several hundred small businesses in the area (not just Saratoga!) will gather. It’s open to the public and a wonderful way to learn about the many small businesses that surround us, and what they are all about.
Where: Saratoga Springs City Center
When: Thursday, October 2nd
Time: 4:30 PM-7 PM
The list of participating businesses is really phenomenal and diverse. Yours truly will be manning a booth there and I am so excited to mingle with fellow small business owners and meet lots and lots of people! I’ll be giving away a pretty awesome door prize (a complimentary session and 16×20 canvas!) so after dinner, grab the family and head on over. I have a handful of free passes, so if you are interested in going, just shoot me an email! ashley@ashleybrownphotography.com.

The 2008 Holiday Mini Sessions have garnered quite a bit of interest, but I still have a few spots left for the October 6 date (Bowman Orchards) as well as October 25 (Congress Park). This is a great way to meet me (if you haven’t!) or to get some updated shots for the holidays. I also have a great arrangement of holiday card designs. Get in touch ASAP if you’d like to reserve your session!

That’ll do it for now. Back to your regularly scheduled sneak peeks. :)

For whatever reason, I usually get big newborns… 9, 10 pounders. K. however, was born at a mere 6 pounds and change. It’s funny how a few lbs. can make such a difference in a newborn! She was so tiny and precious. She was also super active and loved to move around. We had the most success when she was tightly swaddled like a baby burrito. Of course we attempted (with success, I might add!) to get some shots with her older sister, 18 month old H.

P.S. I am LOVING my new polka dotted blanket! How perfect is it for a “modern” baby girl?
September 18, 2008 – 7:53 am
All of the other twins I’ve photographed have looked very similar (so much so, that during proofing I was sweating a little hoping I wasn’t about to show photos of just one twin!!) These guys though… I had no problem telling them about! Not only did they look different, but one was a peanut and the other was quite roly poly!

What melts my heart and turns me into a puddle of mush? A red headed, chubby cheeked baby, of course. M. was absolutely adorable and had a smiley personality to match. His big sister L. was FAST… as are most two year olds… full of energy and spunk. It was very easy to get some giggles out of her! The N. family, like several other of my clients, had murals painted in the kids’ rooms (an Adirondack mountain scene and a garden/fence respectively). I can’t get over how cool that is! What a perfect way to add some personality to a child’s room

These sweet boys and their family were one of the recipients of the package I donate to several local private school auctions. Mom told me during our consultation that they are very outdoorsy, and she wanted to capture that in portraits. Well, I think we succeeded! Both C. and J. are such smart, personable and well rounded guys. I know they are going to grow up to be something special.
